Whether coloring with his crayons on the wall or on paper, Caleb Gray was artistic from a young age. Tales of fantastic places and colorful characters inspired his imagination and he began to tell his own stories through pictures. He soon outgrew coloring on the wall, but always knew he wanted to be an artist one day.

By the time he began his Fine Art degree, Caleb had been thinking that illustration would be the perfect way to unify his love of drawing and playful imagination. Through college internships, he began to see opportunities for a creative career. The Disney animation studio where he worked in New York City provided him with an excellent foundation in character design and expression. His next internship at C.R. Gibson not only utilized his three-dimensional skills constructing mock-ups, but developed into a full time job designing and illustrating for clients ranging from boutique shops to mass market chains. Along the way he was fascinated to also learn the vast possibilities for art within the gift industry.

Seeing all these new opportunities showed Caleb how to match his creativity with the professional skills he had acquired. Combining his tastes for contemporary and nostalgic design, art by Caleb Gray developed a uniquely modern style with a fun, retro vibe. Now Caleb’s work can be seen internationally not only on stationery and gift products, but a whole range of goods like fabrics, calendars, and home décor. “It’s so fun taking the humor, style, and creativity I love and translating it into artwork that can entertain others. And it just goes to show you never really outgrow the fun that imagination brings!”
